Short answer: for most corporate tea gifts, send each client a Discovery Trio ($24.99), which sits just under the IRS $25 per recipient deduction line, and save the AI Customized Gift Box ($66.66) for your top accounts. For employees, ship one order of $99 or more to the office so shipping is free, then hand the boxes out in person.
The 30 second plan
Clients and employees are two different gifts
Most corporate gift guides treat "clients and employees" as one list. They are not. The tax rules, the delivery route and the message are different for each group.
Client gifts
- The IRS lets a business deduct no more than $25 of gifts per recipient per tax year.
- Per the IRS, incidental costs such as packing or shipping are not counted inside that $25.
- Usually shipped to many addresses, so plan the shipping math (below).
- Message: thank you for the year, add a handwritten line.
Employee gifts
- Gift cards count as cash equivalents, which IRS guidance treats as taxable wages.
- Small, occasional physical gifts (think holiday food baskets) are commonly treated as de minimis fringe benefits.
- Usually one delivery to the office or a team offsite.
- Message: a shared tasting at the last team meeting of the year.

Shipping: one address or many?
Each checkout ships to one address. That one fact decides your shipping cost.
Route A: everything to the office
One order, one address. Any order of $99 or more ships free in the US, so a team order of 4 or more Trios pays no shipping at all. Best for employee gifts.
Route B: straight to each client
One order per address. A single Trio ships for $9.99, so the client gift costs $34.98 delivered. For a key client, a Customized Gift Box plus a Trio plus three single packets comes to $100.62 and ships free.
Tip: if you send Route B gifts, collect client addresses in a spreadsheet first. Hybrid and remote offices change more often than you think.
When to order
Our dates leave time to pack and ship. They are suggestions, not delivery guarantees. The USPS date comes from its 2026 holiday shipping announcement.
Not sure what your top client drinks?
Our AI tea advisor asks a few questions about taste, coffee habits and how they like to relax, then builds a box around the answers. Run it once per key client and every box is different.
Build a client box with AIPut a brewing card in every box
Many people at the office have never brewed loose leaf tea. A small card keeps your gift from sitting in a drawer. The Discovery Trio already includes one. For single packets, copy this:
West Lake Dragon Well
80°C / 175°F water. 1 packet per 500 ml pot, 2 to 3 minutes.
Da Hong Pao
95°C / 203°F water. 1 packet per 500 ml pot, 3 minutes, steep again.
Ancient Black Tea
90 to 95°C / 195 to 203°F. 1 packet per pot, 3 minutes.
At a desk with only a mug: use half a packet with a strainer. The leaves can be steeped two or three times, which makes a packet last most of a morning. Full numbers live in our guides for Da Hong Pao and Dragon Well.
Two notes you can copy
For a client
"Thank you for a year of good work together. These three teas come from three corners of China. Brew one on a slow Friday afternoon, on us."For the team
"You carried a lot this year. Take one packet to your desk tomorrow, put the kettle on, and give yourself ten quiet minutes. You earned them."Three mistakes that waste a corporate gift budget
✗ One flavor for everyone
A green tea fan and a coffee drinker want different cups. A three tea set covers both.
✗ Ordering in the second week of December
Address checks alone take days. Late gifts read as an afterthought.
✗ Sets of four for Chinese clients
Four sounds like "death" in Mandarin. Red and gold wrapping reads as warm.
If you also send gifts for the Lunar New Year on February 6, 2027, our Lunar New Year tea gift guide covers who gets what. For individual gifts, see the Christmas tea gift list.
Why tea works as a company gift
A branded mug joins the other mugs in the cupboard. Tea gets opened, brewed and shared, often at the same desk where your name sits in the inbox. It suits people who avoid alcohol, people on a budget, and people who already own everything. And Chinese tea has a long history as a business gift: in China, offering tea to a guest is the first gesture of a meeting, a way of saying the relationship matters more than the deal.
The three teas we send come from three regions. Dragon Well grows on the misty hills around West Lake in Hangzhou. Da Hong Pao grows in the rocky cliffs of the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian. Ancient Black Tea comes from old tea trees in the mountains of Yunnan. One box, three landscapes, one thank you.

Single packets of West Lake Dragon Well and Ancient Black Tea start at $2.99 each.
A good gift says "we thought about you" without saying a word. A cup of tea, brewed slowly, says it twice.
